Are you ready for another Shamrock experience in your favorite city? The Shamrock Stride 4-Mile Walk is what you need post-St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
When: Sunday, March 19, 2017
Starting at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Waterfront Park – Downtown Portland
Start Location: Every event will start at SW Pine & Naito Parkway.
Finish Line Location: The finish line for all walkers will be at SW Yamhill & Naito Parkway.
This event is open only to walkers, and all ages are permitted.
There is a new and improved Shamrock Stride 4-Mile Walk that will feature a scenic route along the Willamette River, across the stunning Steel and Tilikum Bridges, and along the RiverPlace Harbor.
Founded in 1979, the Adidas Shamrock Run is the biggest running and walking event in the entire state of Oregon, and is the third-largest event in the Western U.S. In 2017, they estimate that 30,000 participants will celebrate the 39th annual event on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, OR.
Fun St. Patrick’s Day Facts
- Patrick Wore Blue – St. Patrick was known for wearing a clear blue that was dubbed, “St. Patrick’s Blue.” Green became associated with the holiday in the late 18th century because of Irish independence.
- He Wasn’t Even Irish – 5th-century birth certificates are hard to come by, even for important figures such as St. Patrick. What is known is that he was born to Roman parents in either Wales or Scotland.
