The recent months have seen significant improvements to Medicare coverage.
Since the start of the Affordable Care Act, millions of Americans have been able to benefit from improved Medicare coverage. People can now more easily access preventive services, helping to keep them healthy, and those with high prescription drug costs are seeing the coverage gap start to close.
In the past few months, there have been many improvements to Medicare coverage, including:
- 28 million Americans who have Medicare were able to receive discounts on brand-name drugs in the Medicare Part D coverage gap. That number is up from the 899,000 through the end of June and 478,000 in May.
- The discounts have been able to save people with disabilities and seniors a total of $660 million, including $199 million in just July.
- More than 18.9 million people who have Original Medicare, or 55.6 percent were able to receive one or more preventive services for free.
- More than 1.2 million Americans who have Original Medicare have been able to take advantage of the new Annual Wellness Visit that is provided through Medicare, which is up from 1.06 million in July.
